A-to-Z Challenge: B is for Bravery

B'
is for 'Bravery'. Something that was touched on in Ema's blog
yesterday.
There
have been many moments since we arrived in the Limousin where I have
felt anything but brave.
At times I have found the cultural adjustment, language, paperwork & bureaucracy, getting registered with the tax authorities & 'legalised' within & integrated into the health system, need to start afresh creating an income, the cold in January & February (locals tell us it's been mild!), the many bits & bobs that need doing on the house, etc. etc. completely overwhelming & have questioned the wisdom of our decision.

In
Brighton we had a life which, whilst not perfect, was ours. We
understood it, our work paid the bills, and our friends, hobbies and
families were close by, but........
My
work as a Singing Teacher has always been about supporting people in
finding their own, true voice, letting go of their fears, allowing themselves to sing & not listening to
the ego chatter that tells them – us – what we can & can't do.
I
realised within a couple of months that I needed help in dealing with my own conditioned minds negative chatter which, if I let it have its way, would keep me in a
cosy corner somewhere never attempting anything different &
probably sabotaging my dreams if I let it.
I
turned to an old friend, A Course In Miracles (ACIM). My lesson from
the course for today - 'I could see peace instead of this (insert
your own problem/opportunity)'.
I have a choice in how I look at the people, things, events in my life.
I have a choice in how I look at the people, things, events in my life.
Bottom
line, for me; I love my life & this gorgeous place we live; I
love the beautiful shining star who is my wife; I love the work I did
in Brighton helping my students to believe in & BE the beautiful
shining stars that they are, & I love that here is another
opportunity to teach what I most need to learn.... that life is &
we are, an amazing & wonderful thing!
So,
I commit to this – when there is a 'problem', or I perceive things
as 'impossible', I will remember that I can see peace instead, deny
the voices of doom in my head, acknowledge my many blessings &
enjoy this Blooming Brilliant Business of life, with all of
it's challenges, ups & downs.
As they say in France, Bon
Peter :@)
