Sing from the Heart Singing Holiday Week 20-27 May 2017

A wonderful week of singing was had by all here at De Tout Coeur Limousin. We enjoyed daily singing workshops, long lunches in the sun afterwards and welcoming new singers to our little corner of rural Limousin, France.

We worked on a range of popular group songs from the 1960s to the present day, including The Beatles, Coldplay, Stealers Wheel, The Crystals and Rag and Bone Man. Individual solo songs included a selection of songs, from traditional Scottish folk, a homage to Peter Sellers and Sophia Loren, to The Rolling Stones, Sting, Dusty Springfield and Paul Simon. Again it was the first time some people had sung in public. Although there were a few nerves before hand you couldn't tell when they were singing. It is always a joy to witness people overcome the nerves, feel the fear and do it anyway. If the focus is on singing from the heart the rest will follow. A good performance is never about singing in tune or hitting the 'perfect' note. Do you connect with the emotion of the song and communicate with the audience? That is what is important, and will always be appreciated. 

The Friday night performance was as always a lovely occasion. Neighbours, friends and family brought dishes to share before the concert, and the audience were very supportive and appreciative
