Vassiviere in the heart of the Millevaches
National Park
in the Limousin
region of South West France,
minutes away from the shores of Lac de Vassiviere
– one of France's largest Lakes.
The Millevaches
(a thousand springs) is an area of
unspoilt protected forest, mountains and waterways also
known as 'the
Lake District' of France.
Enjoy the Great Outdoors
Spend
a week or two at De Tout Coeur enjoying the great outdoors of rural South West France. The co-owner Peter is a keen road
cyclist, experienced ride leader and veteran of many a French and UK
sportive and can advise on local routes and good cycling areas. Great
routes for road and mountain biking straight from our front door.
Whether you want hard training with plenty of climbing (even 40
milers have about 1000 metres of ascent), or just to roll along the
Circuit Raymond Poulidor
(used 3 times as a TT
circuit for Le Tour de France)
which meanders around the beautiful Lac
de Vassiviere,
this is fabulous cycling country in the'spiritual home of cycling'

A
wide variety of other outdoor sporting activities are available in
the area all year round, from trail running, horse riding, fishing, hiking, geocaching and
walking. Grande Randonnées (France's national network of marked trails and footpaths) and other marked walking routes run right by the house. There is open water swimming available in the Lac de Vassiviere –
with 5 designated swimming beaches around the perimeter of the Lac.
Perfect
for triathlon training. There are of course numerous water sports and activities available. From kayaking,canoeing and windsurfing to pootling around on a pedalo.
There
are also a wide variety of other activities available. From a
vibrant contemporary art scene to regular live music and cultural
events in the area.
Or you can of course just take time out
and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the beautiful rural area - a
haven for nature lovers, artists, photographers and birdwatchers alike.
We
offer lodge style accommodation for up to 10 people. 6 people in
double/twin
rooms and up to another 4 in an attic dormitory/family room. Full
board available with good and plentiful home cooking by your other
host Ema – a passionate home cook, serving up big plates of big flavoured food – perfect for refuelling after a day enjoying the great outdoors.
Ema is also a registered Reiki Master-Teacher and offers Reiki treatments and training. A lovely addition to your break with us at De Tout Coeur.
As well as being a keen cyclist Peter is a singing teacher and vocal coach with over 25 years experience. As well as offering singing lessons and songwriting workshops to groups and individuals we also host singing holidays at De Tout Coeur.
